Plants and People from the Ghost Town Store Porch

These two characters are the Dearly Beloved and Blair Pitman,
the newspaperman turned Desert storyteller I told y'all about in this blog. Don't they make a pair?

Blair was nice enough to pay attention to the Kobe Beef Tip. He had been lookin' for "Fuzzy", his dog who left for a walk-about three days earlier without leaving a note. We feared the worst, but turns out he was visitin' doggie friends.

This is a lomg shot, from the side, of some of our companions on The Porch. Joe, the fella in the red shirt spent the afternoon engrossed in his book, Contrabandistas.

This ice plant sits at the end of the porch. It's awesome, innit?

This is the Ocotillo that taught me they CAN have green, plump leaves and blossoms, too.

A closer shot.

The blossoms.

The leaves.

Outside The Starlight Theater, whichis a restaurant, not a theater. It USED to be a roofless theater. Now it's enclosed and serves the spiciest guacamole in the Northern Hemisphere.

These planters areconverted pipes. And the plants? The bottom one is a Candelia, if memory serves. I don't remember what the other two are.

I hope y'all enjoyed these both before you knew what each was and now that you do.
