Phlegm Fatale IS Fatal

LaP has blogged about her trip to the Range/Cow Pasture on Monday already. Now I want to give you MY view on the same event. And make no mistake, it was an EVENT.

It was hot, but there was a breeze and we had brought cold soft drinks, ice and water. I had also thought to throw a couple of Quad chairs in the bed of the truck. I've been to that pasture before, and I knew that since LaP was the student, I wouldn't be shootin' much, if at all, so I wanted to be comfortable while observin'.

Because of all the recent rain the "grass" in the pasture was hip high and the owner hadn't been out to mow. At that point, I think we were all glad DB had suggested we all spray up with Chigger Spray before we left home. DB drove over it a few time to flatten it, but the targets were still obscured by some of the grass. While he talked to LaP about the 4 Rules of Shooting Safety and explained the mechanics of the first pistol she was to shoot, how to load it and the safety and all...I went and stomped down the grass in front of the targets, found a BIG piece of wood that was big enough to cover two of the target stands [Matt was that part of your blood-spatter project?] and uncovered a cinder block in the grass. "Um, Monkey got tool! Monkey's work go faster now!" When DB and LaP turned around from the tailgate, they were pleasantly surprised to find a clear line of sight to the targets. I clomped back to the chairs and plopped down and took a long draw on my Raspberry Iced Tea.

Other than having to be reminded a few times to keep her left thumb out of the way of the slide on the semi-autos, LaP took to pistol shootin' like a duckling to water, like a sick chicken to a hot rock, like Imelda Marcos to Jimmy Choo, like the Hildebeast to a TV camera crew! And she was good, children. What was somewhat surprising, was that the larger the calibers got the better her aim got. Now maybe that was that she was settlin' down, findin' her groove, just gettin' more comfortable with shootin' handguns. But maybe it's b/c she is a natural. And is MOTIVATED to learn.
OR, maybe it's b/c, and I hope y'all don't think I'm braggin', she had an excellent instructor. DB is a patient teacher when it comes to showing a person, especially a woman, how to shoot handguns. And LaP was better with the Government Model Colt than I was the first time. She shot a tighter group that I managed. And she did indeed dig the smell of burnt powder. But who among us shooters doesn't enjoy the aroma of our own rounds?

Next time I will remember to take my camera, instead of just thinkin', "I need to throw my camera in my bag." The look on her face the first time she shot a tight group was priceless. But the grin on that mug after she shot the .45? I'm surprised the top of her head didn't just fall clean off, it was so wide. Oh, and when the vegetation behind the targets and the water in the creek beyond started flyin' in the air...you'd have thought she just won the Lotto Jackpot she was so tickled! Twouldn't surprise me atall if DB didn't have some secret agenda to convert a portion of the female population into devoted Colt .45 shooters.

Oh - and check it out - I've added one more paragraph to my post. Thanks for being such an incredible and patient supporter while I hogged all the ammo. That was one of the best experiences of my life! Thank you thank you thank you.

Glad to hear you all had such a good time. Wish I could have been there. Hope you get to do it again soon.

Is this a new way for women to have orgasmisms? If so, I'm running to buy a gun.

I think you are right about DB's agenda to convert a portion of the female population to the .45s. He did it to me, too! I'm glad y'all had fun. Did you get stuck loading and reloading everything again? I hope not.

I'd still love to know if it's better than an orgasmisim, which is by far MUCH better than an orgasim???????????

I mostly got to re-load my own. Yeah, it was definitely better than any orgasim I've had in a cow pasture at 100 degrees.

I don't remember the last orgasm I had in a cow pasture.
