I was reading Ambulance Driver's blog this mornin'... and all the comments from the others Daddys about how they intend to protect their Darlin' Daughters. I have four brothers, and I was blessed with a wonderful Daddy, and one good Step-Dad. I also have, as some of you know, a marvelous Step-son who is a Daddy.
When I listen to all these men talk about their Daughters and their plans to protect them from boys and men who bear a remarkable resemblance to their selves at younger ages...I think I hear a sound much like...whistling past the graveyard. I'm just sayin', Guys. Now that Ya'll are the Daddy, you know what those other Daddys were thinkin' as well as what those boys and young men are thinkin'. Gives you a cold chill, doesn't it?
Strictly from a female perspective, it's funny to watch you. As a Mother, I know where you're coming from. As a former teen-age girl, I want to say, "Daddy, I love you, too. I'll be a good girl. Maybe. Try not to worry too much, you've raised me well."

My goal is to help my children grow up to be strong and healthy in body and mind. I want to help them have the self-confidence to make good decisions, and the strength to do what they consider right, whatever others are doing.
And I will teach them martial arts from an early age, so woe, woe to anyone who tries to force them into anything!
My daughter is the most trusting, friendly, never-met-a-stranger kid you've ever met. I dread the day I have to squash some of that innocence and teach her that there are bad people in the world.
But at the very least, I'm going to teach her my very best moves and lines.
Then I'll get the chicks who shot me down to show her how to resist. ;)
Yeah, time is the worst come-uppance for all those reformed de-flowerers, eh? Poor fellers.
Aside from needing to relax, I'll be quite relieved if any daughter of mine dates someone similar to my 18-y/o self.
