Happy Birthday

to the United States Marine Corps.

Happy Birthday to You.

Happy Birthday, Uncle Sam's Misguided Chirrens.

Happy Birthday to YOU!!!

I say that with all due respect and affection. I am lucky enough to know many fine Marines who have served our Country past and are currently serving in far flung places. God and Goddess Bless and Keep them safe.

Marines are like no other creatures on this Earth. Even in my favorite Sci-Fi movie sequel {and I'm not a big Sci-Fi fan to begin with, and I usually loathe sequels} Aliens, the kick-a$$ characters were Marines. Course they had to be led by Ripley, the biggest, baddest Woman EVER on screen, BUT they knew when to follow a TRUE leader, because they were MARINES!!!

Marines just have a special place in my heart. They have since I was a child. I don't know if it was all those John Wayne movies, even when he was a Cowboy, he was a Marine.
My favorite anecdotal books about VietNam feature Marines. They just have a certain cache.

Colonel John H. Glenn USMC (Ret.) is my favorite Buckeye, and my favorite Astronaut. I remember his historic Friendship 7 orbit around this and was enchanted by its recreation in "The Right Stuff". He is also the oldest Astronaust to make two trips into space. How thrilling that must have been for him. And how typical for a Marine to stay in shape for a lifetime that he could be "fit" enough to go on the space shuttle after retiring from the Senate!

I see another Marine once a year at a party. He is just a joy to talk with. Retired now, but always entertaining, and his wife is a lovely woman as well.

Some Marines are good shots, too. The ones I know personally are. And as R.Lee Ermey says in "Full Metal Jacket", Charlie Whitman and Lee Harvey Oswald learned their shooting skills in the Corps. If you don't know who those men are, use your preferred search engine to find out. They have a certain notoriety. They used their skills for evil purposes. Most Marines use theirs shooting skills more appropriately. Thankfully.

So, Happy Birthday, Marines! Enjoy your Day!

Just Waiting for the Bullets to Catch up

You get RED ink today, because I'm distressed by and mourning the blood of our brave soldiers, spilled by the cowardly, dastardly, inhuman, beastly, godforsaken Jihadists led by Aboo, the Monkey Boy!!!

I cannot believe this, this ,this Moronic, Flaming, Luciferian sociopath was insane [or egotistical] enough to claim personal credit for the torture mutilation deaths of two U.S. soldiers. The target that was already on his back and head wasn't big enough for him? Whatever this guy is smokin' , I want some... maybe it will help my headaches!!!

Special Forces wanted him before this incident, just because it's their job. Now he's made it PERSONAL!!! And this is where the front line commanders come in...

Why, in the name of all that is Holy and Just, and written in the basic handbook of combat command in a hostile environment was ONE vehicle left ALONE and vulnerable to just the sort of attack these young soldiers came under? Did their commander not read the section on diversionary attacks? Or is he just that derelict? Is he going to be held responsible?

I didn't go to West Point or OCS or the War College and even I know you NEVER, EVER leave ONE vehicle, no matter how well armed or armored a-flippin-lone in that freakin' country!!! You simply don't DO IT!!!

Now, I'll tell you how I REALLY feel. It's time for the Iraqis who want a free and democratic country to put THEIR lives on the line. It's time for their young men and women to suit up, and hump their gear through their own flippin' sand and get rid of the insurgents in their own flippin' villages and towns. Give every Allah lovin' loyal Iraqi 6 months to enlist, another 6 months to train them, ruthlessly, under brutal conditions, with NO contact whatsoever and NO chance to have contact with outsiders [so as to minimize the chances of infiltration by insurgents]. We've been there long enough that we by God and Greyhound ought to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff by now. And, once they are trained, let them fight their own battles.
Enough of our young men and women have lost their lives and limbs. I don't want to see an Iraq Wall in Washington in 25 years with the names of 50,000+ men and women on it.

Remember Disney's Alladin?

I do. Had to sit through it, I don't remember how many times with the XX offspring. Then I had to listen to her rather charming synopsis of same.

Now, when I hear the name Abu, I think about the monkey from the movie. And since Al Quaeda's new man in Iraq is Abu Al Muha Jeer I'm thinking Monkey Boy. Or Jeer Jerk. Or, as some other pundit says the Special Forces have nicknamed him, "Next".

Truthfully, though, I think he should go back and read one of LBJ's old speeches. The one from '72 where he said something along the lines of, "...if nominated I shall not run. If elected I will not serve." Lot of wisdom to be gleened there, Monkey Boy. Ponder on it, it'll come to ya'.

And, while I'm talking about things "furin'", let me touch on that Marine bein' vilified by the media and Marine command. Josh Belile wrote "Hadija Girl" back in Sept. '05. Before the allegations of Marine atrocities were made, and let's not forget those allegations have not been proven.
Josh AND his wife are dedicated Marines. She was in Iraq before he was. While he was in country, she was home, alone, pregnant with their first child. She was delivered of a healthy baby girl, before Josh got home.

When he wrote the song, satiric in nature and based on a movie popular in the summer of '04, it was for a series of performances he had organized. The performers were Marine musicians, the audiences were their fellow Marines. It was a flippin morale builder and none of the in- theater commanders said diddly squat about it at the time. So WHY, three months later, AFTER he's rotated home, is he suddenly being singled out for punishment? The Corps has advised this Gyrene to get a Lawyer!
I'm going to contact my Congress critters, maybe it will do some good, can't hurt to try. I urge you to do the same.
