Firearm Death Rates

From friends:

An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week,
which I quote:
"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington,DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period.

That means you are about 25 percent more likely to be shot and killed in the U.S. capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the U.S., than you are in Iraq."

Conclusion: The U.S.should pull out of Washington.

I heartily concur.

rumor has it that BO want to move the Capital to Chicago 'cuz it's safer.

Ha!

If the Capital moves anywhere, I'd propose Fargo, ND. Let'em freeze in the winter and just mebbe a tornado will get a few of the parasites.

Good punchline! But the DC rate is per 100K/year. The Iraq number was conveniently quoted per MONTH. (Or 720/100K/yr.)

My son, on his 4th tour has said the same thing. Unfortunately he points out that they are killing themselves at a rate of 100 Iraqi's to every 1 American Soldier. Still not what you want for a vacation home. Speaking of home, he'd like to come home to see the son who was born 2 weeks after he deployed.
