For John Shirley

Thank you, sir, for the sentiments behind your kind words.
The Dearly Beloved and I are deeply appreciative of the sacrifices you are currently making in the service of our country and the cause of democracy on foreign soil. Let us all hope the seed of freedom you and your brothers-in-arms have planted have a chance to take root so that the Tree of Liberty may grow there.

John is a U.S. soldier currently serving in the "sandbox". I am being deliberately vague for the sake of his privacy. He will be on R&R soon. If you are one of the lucky folks who will see him during this time, please give him an extra hug and a big wet cheek smoochie from me!

And tune in Sunday. I'll have a special 'Soapbox Sermon' for John Kerry!
